The following activities occur weekly, and most are free
to all Museum visitors unless otherwise noted.
Bonehunters
Quarry
Experience the thrill of hands-on excavation at Bonehunters Quarry,
Carnegie Museum of Natural History's interactive fossil dig! After
being issued protective goggles, a chisel, and a brush, scrape away
at rock matrix to reveal realistic fossil casts buried below. You,
too, can help excavate a dinosaur or mammal! Children 10 and under
must be accompanied by an adult. Click

Discover
Carts
Saturday, 1–3 p.m.
Sunday, 1:30–3:30 p.m.
Docents help visitors examine natural history specimens and artifacts
up close.
Discovery
Room & Family Museum Bags
Explore the Discovery Room and selected Museum exhibits with hands-on

chance to celebrate everyone’s favorite planet – Earth!
Guided tours, children’s activities, discover carts, and
Science on Stage performances are on the agenda all day long. All
Earth
Day activities are free to Museum visitors.

Fisher Scientific Biotechnology Lab
State-of-the-art technology that will engage children and adults
of all ages in exciting hands-on explorations of biotechnology.

Equustravaganza

In honor of the temporary exhibit The Horse, CMNH
will feature a festival of all things horse! Equustravaganza will
spotlight an array of equine activities, including shoeing, grooming,
tack, conformation, video presentations, and more! Click

Art Rubbing

the Discovery Room and travel back to a time when prehistoric people
painted breathtaking images of the wild horses that shared their
landscape. Create your own rock art rubbing on paper at our realistic
